Then and Know

Isn't funny how our parent's would always say you ain't doing anything that I haven't seen or tried before. Look around what do you see. The styles that our parents used to where are coming back with a new spin. When we were being raised by our parents we thought that the rules and the guidelines were old-fashion, but it kept us in line. As we raise our own kids we try to instill the things our parents instilled in us in them. We find ourselves saying the same thing to them that our parents said to us. Is it a cycle or is it the value that was instilled in us.
We find that the things we were thought as a child has made us who we are today. And even though life comes and hit us with those huge road blocks we seem to always remember the things that we were taught. The teachings of the neighbor, the man or woman on the corner, the lunch lady, bus driver didn't matter who it was we got a word and at the time it just didn't make any sense we listened and just went on our own merry way.
Coming up the people in the community looked out for one another there was a sense of stability in the neighborhood. There was respect amongst everyone and children did as they were told not as they wanted. Know a days can not speak to any one kids without them cursing at you and then their parent coming and doing the same. Sometimes you have to wonder why that kid is acting that way then you see the parent and you get a better understanding. As the old folks say the apple don't fall from the tree. I'll take the old school values any day over the one's they have know..

  1. I do the same thing. I try to instill the same things my mother taught me. I think I've done pretty good. He's a good kid, stays out of trouble, and is polite to others. I am a proud mamma.
